  • Don't forget the lyrics TCO style

Name of song and group please.....

The street was deserted late Friday night,
We were buggin' each other as we sat out the light
We both popped the clutch when the light turned green
You shoulda heard the whine from my screamin' machine
I flew past La Brea, Schwabs and Crescent Heights
And all the Jag could see were my six taillights
He passed me at Doheny and I started to swerve...

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! I used to get Jan & Dean confused with the Beach Boys. But the best part of dead man's curve lyrics were...The last thing I remember, Doc...I started to swerve...

Their song "Little Ol Lady From Pasadena" would be easily mistaken as being the Beach Boys.

Here's some back history about Jan and Dean for those who have no idea who they are.

I didn't realize Jan had passed away. A legend no doubt.

              How about this one...

You jump in front of my car when you,
you know all the time that
Ninty miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive
You tell me it's alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a ride

Actually...it's Crosstown Traffic from the Ultimate Experience by Jimi Hendrix

                  Here are the lyrics...
You jump in front of my car when you,
you know all the time that
Ninty miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive
You tell me it's alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a ride

                  You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
                  Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
                  Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I'm tryin' to get on the other side of town

I'm not the only soul who's accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back
I can see you had your fun
But darlin' can't you see my signals turn from green to red
And with you I can see a traffic jam straight up ahead

                  You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
                  Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
                  Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I got better things on the other side of town

This should be an easy one...

We always take my car 'cause it's never been beat
And we've never missed yet with the girls we meet

None of the guys go steady 'cause it wouldn't be right
To leave your best girl home now on a Saturday nite...

I Get Around - Beach Boys.

BTW - I've been a Beach Boys and Jan & Dean fan since I was a kid. At one time, I had all of Jan & Dean's stuff on vinyl, and my older sister had tons of Beach Boys stuff. Last year, I picked up the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds in the high-resolution audio format called DVD-A. Was created from the original master tapes in 24 bit/192k 5.1 surround. Wow!! 24bit/192k copies of the original mono and later stereo recordings are also included. For those who don't have a DVD-A capable player, a 24 bit/96k DTS layer with the 5.1, stereo, and mono recordings is included on the flip-side of the disk. It plays in any standard DVD player.

I'm also a Hendrix fan. Cool tunes you're bringing up in this thread....

I’ve been drivin‘ all night my hand’s wet on the wheel
There’s a voice in my head that drives my heel
And my baby calls that she needs me here
It’s half past four and I’m shifting gear

                              Radar Love - Golden Earring

                              Here's one:

There you go man, keep as cool as you can.
Face piles and piles of trials with smiles.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave, and keep on thinking free.
