What is it with people in this town? When a car runs slower than it should, all we hear is that it's not set up for racing or it's a road race car or I got it in a magazine. I guess it just goes to show how mediocre magazines are today. Guys running hi 11s with 700 hp and lo 12s on spray and a car with 400 at the wheels that runs 106 in the 1\4 should stick to reading magazines instead of building cars.

I'm not making excuses, people that know the car know damn well it's not a drag car. It's a full weight, column shift air conditioned car with quiet exhaust.

Like I said before the car has a high 11 in there somewhere but it's not a priority for me as I'm building a different car for going fast, when my purpose built car runs 12's talk all the shit you want.

The car never made 400rwhp while I had it. I didn't care what it dynoed honestly. I was more interested to know if the a/f ratio was close to being right or not. I don't think the few changes that Mark made put it to the 400 mark either. It's also 3500+ lbs going down the track. But what do I know....
I know the combo of the car was chosen to be reliable because I wanted to drive it whenever, wherever. I know I could have made it much faster by choosing different components and lightening it up. But I chose not to BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT A DRAG CAR! Is that so hard to understand? Not everyone builds a car to run a number or dyno a number. I think that's what the "mediocre magazines" understand and you apparently don't.

in my opinion, car craft magazine is just a shell of a magazine it used to be and one reason why i don't subscribe to it anymore. at one time, i used to look forward to thumbing through it at the book store but not anymore.

but maybe every body should take your advice and only feel they have acomplished something once they've gotten their car into "car crap" and afterwards tell the true racers that getting ones car into that magazine is far better than actually racing and competing at a race track :laugh_smile:

i got an idea...let's close down the tracks and just look at the cars that make it into magazines and then magazine and/or dyno race. that's way more fulfilling.

ReRod didn't build the car to race, I didn't buy it to look at. He built it to drive and I bought it to drive. Only one thing I did to it would have increased performance, the rest of the stuff I've done while I've owned it was just updating old parts and for function and drive-ability. I already have a car that is meant for drag racing, why would I need two?
