  • Going Quadrajet

Call me crazy but after I get the body and paint and resto done on the Chevelle, I will go back to an 800 Quadrajet with the new combination.

Had a GM service Q-Jet on wife's '69 396-350 and it was quicker and had better drivability than the 3310 780 Holley and Dorker.

Just tap the pedal to set the choke. It had the cold start fast idle and vapor came out instead of rich. Immediate driveability with no stumble.

Just got to get the best intake that'll work with choke spring.

Yeah, I know that they have great drive-ability when set up properly (my '67 400 GS had one) - but you're going Quadrajunk on your Chevelle?!?!?

Glenn, if you are not going with the factory numbers matching carb I'd suggest a newer Q-jet that has the electric choke on it and on the older ones I have a link to add that to them. The best Intake is the GM Bowtie Q-jet can support 600hp. I have a ton of Q-jet parts if you need them, I might even have a 800 Q-jet or two, will need to look.

Joel, in the 70's I ran Q-jets on everything I owned and beat most Holley equipped cars with my 350 SBC. You just need to learn how to set them up right. When I got into the new Holley spread bore carbs, they were the cats meow. The 800 cfm model was most impressive.
