Thanks! Yeah, I sent the trans to Art Carr a couple decades-plus ago for a full-meal-deal rebuild. Forged everything, Redline clutch packs, furnace-brazed 3000 RPM stall converter w/anti-balloon plate & a Redline lockup clutch. Also has an Eaton forged posi unit w/Richmond gears, Redline clutches & Moser forged axles, HD driveshaft, driveshaft loop.

Well....shit! Got a brief cold-start knock in the GN. Just noticed it a week ago Think it's a rod bearing. What do you guys think?

After only driving it a few miles, the startup noise is a lot louder now & happens after only a few hours of sitting - not just after sitting for days/weeks. Knock starts @ ~5 sec into the video & lasts for a couple sec or so after startup. Fuck, I think I need an engine overhaul!!

Hmm...I may be wrong but it doesn't sound like a rod bearing to me. Maybe a noisy lifter before it pumps up. Any idea what the oil pressure is and does it stay steady or fluctuate?

It's not a valve-train noise. Sounds much deeper in the block to my ear, when standing in front of the engine with the hood open. It's only there for that couple of seconds as the engine starts. Happens whenever it's been sitting for a few hours or more. Had just gotten an oil change a week before I first noticed it. Had 'em do another oil change, with a fresh Baldwin B279 filter. Still there. Running 10-30 full synthetic Amsoil. 70 lbs of oil pressure on a cold-start. 20 lbs @ hot idle & 70 lbs @ 5000 RPM. Factory spec is 10 lbs/1000 RPM.
