  • 1st. Annual Amber Green Race

On June 11th and 12th the Rock will be having a Amber Green (now Rock Falls) race with cars from 1966 to 1979. I plan to go out on Sat. with my Son and run Brad's old Nova. It will be quite a bit slower now but this is more about having some fun rather than how quick I can go. The car will get tested with my 468 BBC, Turbo 400 with street converter and the newly installed 3.55 posi 12 bolt. Should be a fun race for sure. Going to get lots of pictures and video.

Bobby and I are planning on going out the Sat. if it doesn't rain. Bring that bad ass SS Chevelle so we can have a grudge run.

Getting ready next week. Putting the 26" slicks on, the wheels from the Camaro, taking off the front sway bar links for more front end lift and locking out the distributor. Going to run through the mufflers as the Nova has Borlas on it and that about as close to open exhaust as you can get. Noe sure what we'll run but hoping for some place in the 11's.

Went out yesterday and ran the best of 11.29@120mph with street stuff and exhaust on the car. It was a great race day.

Might head up to BIR for 1 day at Show and Go. Haven't been there racing since 1994.

Quite impressive what Bob can do with those pp heads.

What's even more impressive is what Mark (Vortecpro) does with the little port heads. I think his 68 Chevelle is now in the 10.30's with them.

Looks like the 2.56 gear test happens next weekend at the muscle car race. Going to lock out the dizzy, drop the exhaust this time and try out my drag radials for the 1st time ever. If they don't hook I am bringing the slicks. I don't trust the Rockpile's track prep.

2.56 rear gears?? What do you do with that setup - just run 1st & 2nd in the 1/4 mi?

Muscle Car Race? Is that where they group cars in .5 second intervals? 11.0, 11.5, 12.0 and so forth. So 11.0 cars run against anything up to 11.49. If that's the case, they should call it sand bag nationals. Because if it's heads up racing and you have an 11.30 car, you'd dial up to 11.50 because an 11.30 car can't beat an 11.0 car. Maybe I'm reading it wrong?
