  • Spool on the street?

I've been at various events and see track type cars on the street running spools. Down at Porky's, I've seen cars turning the corners and it makes me cringe to hear tires scooting and chattering.

Isn't it kinda dangerous to run those on the street?

I've run a spool on the street but was (smart?) enough to run slicks to soften the load on things.A D/L is going in for this summer. When they unlock, they can suprise you.I'll find out in an upcoming episode.

I would think the danger factor is there a little more than running a regular rear on the street. Years ago I test drove a C-10 pu that was for sale and the seller didn't tell me it had a spool in the rear until I took a right hand turn at a good clip, oops.

My old g-body initially had a stock 7.5 rear that the p/o welded the spider gears. That actually felt dangerous to drive on the street taking turns, etc.
