  • Stock LS1 cam specs

This posted for a certain person that has a black formula that lurks here:rlol:

    98-00 LS1 cam specs

    Intake lift .498 duration 198.86
    Exhaust lift .497 duration 209.25
    LSA 119.45

    01-02 LS1 can specs

    Intake lift .464 duration 196.37
    Exhaust lift .479 duration208.72
    LSA 115.92

Makes me wonder now why some of the LT1 cars ran so slow as some years had LSA spec close to the LS1 and in a Gen1 Small Block kills them.

So now you know whay your car is faster at the bottom end and slower at the top end with the new motor. My suggestion is to put in an LS6 cam as the LSA is about the same as your old cam and the extra lift and duration would wake that old car right up.

Hmmm...I've never heard of any of the LS1's having a 111.92 LSA. Doesn't sound right. Here are the specs I found.

From what I recall, they deleted the egr valve starting 2001, so they used the smaller cam to help with emissions.

    1998 - 2000 Fbody
    202/210 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
    0.496" / 0.496" int/exh lift
    116 LSA

    2001 - 2002 Fbody
    197/207 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
    0.467" / 0.479" int/exh lift
    116 LSA

    2001 LS6 cam
    207/217 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
    0.525" / 0.525" int/exh lift
    116 LSA

    2002+ LS6 cam
    204/218 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
    0.551" / 0.547" int/exh lift
    117 LSA

    Here's a good link...

You're right about the reason why his car runs different due to cam differences. His car would benefit from a cam change. I like the one you recommend. Stock idle and wouldn't really need tuning, just change rev limiter.
